JB Bore Cleaning Compound ... How Do you Apply?

What's the most effective way to apply the JB Bore Cleaning Compound?

I've tried using a barrel mop and running it 20 to 30 times back and forth, and I've tried using a smaller size bronze brush with a patch around it. Both ways are messy, and usually results in me throwing the barrel mop away after using it.

SOmeone give me some ideas before I have to invest in a bulk order of barrel mops. :)

A little bit of JB on a tight patch. Work it part way down, pull back, go a little farther, pull back a little, and so on until you have scrubbed the whole barrel. Once you're done, scrub with solvent and patches until it is clean.

I use mops. They're easier to scrub with.

Sometimes people go overboard w/ JB because they expect that it's going to act like a cleaner, and eventually the patch or mop won't discolor when they pass it through the bore. But it always does. There seems to be a chemical reaction that takes place which isn't caused by fouling.

I typically use, and been advised to use, 10 to 15 strokes, and then cleaned out the JB. That works very well.

Like Scorch, I use a jag with a tight patch. I rarely have to use JB since I switched to Wipe-out, a foaming bore cleaner.
