Japanese Nambu(s)

Recently I've become fascinated with these old WWII pistols.
Thanks to Harley, I've already received detailed disassembly info.

But I haven't been able to find much on the general history and various arsenals involved, or a detailed listing of all the Type 14 variants, such as production dates for the Papas, the Babys, the STG (small trigger guards), and the LTG (large trigger guards), etc.
And yes, I'm even interested in knowing the background of perhaps one of the ugliest pistols ever designed: the Type 94.

Can someone give me some insight, or at least point me in the right direction?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks fal308!
Exactly what I was looking for.
Looks like I have a lifetime of collecting ahead of me. :)

Good books are:

Japanese Hand Guns by Leithe, Military Pistols of Japan by Hunnicutt, and Hand Cannons Of Imperial Japan by Darby.
