J. Stevens Model MC 388 duel action shotgun

Hi,

I have inherited a J. Stevens Arms and Tool duel action trigger single shot shotgun. The only markings other than the name are MC 388 on the trigger guard, which I assume is the model number. I know that 14" was cut off the barrel as someone got snow in the end and fired the gun about 70 years ago.

I would like to put in back into working conditions. I know that a locking pin on the bottom of the barrel is missing, as I can see the remainder of the holding screw and the spring clip on the hand guard that would lock into the pin. The hand guard also keeps the trigger section connected to the barrel.

The stock is cracked right at the back of the trigger mechanism. This gun has seen some hard times and has not been stored well, but now that I have it, I want to put in back as close to original as possible.

Thanks for any information,

jclay

"14 inches was cut off the barrel"?? How much barrel do you have left?

Maybe you shouldn't answer that----if it's less than 18" your best bet is
to remove the barrel and DESTROY IT. Cut it up, melt it down, get rid
of it.

Gunparts corp. is a place to start for parts.
