J.P. Sauer & Sohn Suhl 7.65 Cal Model 1913

I inherited a Model 1913 J.P. Sauer & Sohn Shul 7.65 Cal (.32 acp equivalent). Serial number is in the 137xxx range. I cleaned the gun and oiled it. All in all it looks pretty good but there are two visible parts that are either missing or broken. Here is a great cruffler write up on the piece. I am just wondering if it is worth it to try and repair it and get it functioning again. Feels like a sturdy little piece. All thoughts and remarks appreciated

Neat little pistols. I recently got a non-functioning basket-case that I revived. It's a decent shooter, but parts are scarce and not too cheap. What are you missing? Might be worth selling (to me?) for parts.

it seems, the Slide lock and the rear sight are missing, right? These are parts #002 and #017 in this drawing:

(In said drawing is shown a third variation – on your pistol most probably part #014 will not be present).

Your question can’t be answered without having seen your pistol. If it is worth to repair it depends on the condition of the pistol. As two parts are missing I assume the overall condition will not be the best, right?

Another problem: there are at least three different variations of the spring to which the rear sight is attached – you have to find a matching late one.

As I learned, at least two of the sight/spring variations are "Dremel Interchangeable", but a restoration by a professional might not be worth it to resurrect a $200 +- pistol.

He indicates that I can ship it to him for a look see and he will tell me what it will cost to build the parts. If it is too expensive I can nix the deal and he can just send it back to me in which case I would just be out the shipping charges. Then I would need to decide what to do with it at that point. Thanks again all for your feedback. It has been extremely helpful.
 
If possible, you should post a few pics of the Sauer here to get a ballpark value. Then you can decide what further steps to take. Shipping costs to/from the 'smith could come out to half the value of the gun. Although 7.65 handguns are collectible, especially Sauers, they don't usually bring much money. If you can find the parts, fixing it yourself might be the best solution. You'll find lots of on-line help.
