What can anyone tell me about this gun? My father-in-law brought it back from WWII. How can I find out when it was made? Where can I get a rear sight?

That is a Sauer Behorden ("Authorities" or what we might call "Official") model. It is distinguished from the Model 30 by the trigger safety (similar to that on the Glock) and the loaded chamber indicator. Many writers call all Model 30's the Behorden model, but that is not correct; the latter has the above features which were added to meet the requirements of government agencies.

It's a pin that runs along the top of the slide.
I'm working from memory, but I think it's connected to the firing pin or striker in some way, a two- or three-part affair, protruding from the rear of the slide when the chamber is loaded.
I contributed to some of those older threads, as I had a relative's Behorden for a while, and it was missing part of the loaded-chamber indicator. I believe that someone posted a schematic with the parts called-out by number.

The slide cap (the knurled part you grasp to retract the slide) of the Behorden model has a hole in the back above the hole for the firing pin spring guide. If the loaded chamber indicator is present and working, a pin will protrude through that hole when the chamber is loaded. So many are missing that I think they must have given trouble and been removed by the original owners.

Berhorden

I see the indicator and it is working on my gun. I would like to get a rear sight and the gun would be complete and serviceable. Numrich is sold out with no restocking date. Are there other options? I am thinking this part may be hard to get. Also the serial number is 224510 where can I get information on when it was made, history, etc.
