IWB Holsters: Clip or Loop?

Whats your preference and why?

The only 2 IWB's that I own use the belt clips, not the loops. I dont particularly like the clip, but the holsters I own came with guns I bought so I didnt really have an option..... But hey, Im not complaining about getting free holsters.

It seems to me like the loop is the way to go, but having never worn one, I wanted to hear some pro's and cons before ordering my next IWB.

I prefer the loops... just personal preference I guess. One good thing about a clip holster is that you don't necessarily have to wear a belt with it.

The best option I've found so far is a loop with a high-quality one-way snap.

The snap will only come off if it's flipped the right way, not from pressure on the holster. It means you can rapidly remove the holster without messing with your belt.

The clip holsters I've had have been very secure but have been so stiff that they're very difficult to put on or take off without threading the belt through the clip.

I'd take loops over clips if those were the only choices, but snapped loops (done right) are much better than either.

I have a Crossbreed Supertuck which has metal clips. I like that system partly because there's nothing behind the belt, reducing bulkiness somewhat. Besides that, I see no advantage to a loop over a high quality clip. This thing is NOT going to come out with the gun.

I have one dust catching, shelf riding clip holster.

The rest are belt loops or snap loops, . . . they get used.

May God bless,
Dwight
