IWB Holster

I'm currently in the market for my first concealed carry holster. I chose a somewhat larger framed gun for carry (Sig Sauer SP2022), so my research tends to point me towards hybrid type IWBs.

Right now my considerations are as follows:
Squared Away Customs Lima
Crossbreed Supertuck
Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0

Any thoughts on these choices?

I have been using a King Tuk for a while for my G17 and a Theis for my PPS, but I hear a lot of good things about the Alien gear rigs......

Hybrid holsters are typically very comfortable when it comes to CCW a pistol. The trade off is that holstering once the holster is on your belt and tightened can be somewhat difficult. IMHO Hybrid holster is not something you would want to use in a pistol training class. Also a hybrid holster, at least for me, can be somewhat difficult to put on and take off. That typically is not a concern if you do not want or need to remove your holster during the time you CCW.

Now I do CCW my SP2022 in an Aliengear 2.0 once in a while and it works great for my purposes. My favorite hybrid holster is the Garrett Silent Thunder Fusion that I use for my HK P30LS but it is twice that the AG goes for. It is more of a minimalist design hybrid and has very comfortable backing and the J clips lock onto my belt well.

Here is my SP2022 in my Aliengear 2.0

I prefer leather ....specifically horsehide leather from Kramer leather..with a forward FBI Tilt. Great product ...and highly recommended by InSights Training Institute. I wear Kramer leather whether I'm carrying a Sig 239, a K frame S&W revolver ...or a 4" or 5" 1911..../ a good solid belt makes a full size gun easy to carry with the right holster.

( or even if I wanted to carry one of my Sig 226's...that is bigger - and heavier - than the 2022 model you are considering).

Thanks for the responses y'all!

The SP2022 looks great in that Alien Gear, but it does seem slightly bulkier (the holster) than the Garret, which looks like a great option!

I will say that the main reason I've been looking at mostly kydex options is because they tend to have the SP2022 as an available option, and if not, they seem to have an easier time accommodating a custom request.

Those Kramer holsters look fantastic, but the only Sig they list for availability is the P226, so I'll have to see if they can make one for the SP2022.

I have two of that style hybrid holsters: Alien Gear 3.0 and a Galco King Tuk. I also have a Crossbreed Supertuck on the way.

I absolutely love the King Tuk and that made me try the AG 3.0 since they are cheaper. It was a waste of money. I absolutely hate both of the Alien Gear holsters I have. The gun fit is horrible on both, and even with the smallest spacers cranked down the gun still flops around. This is with both of the AG holsters I have for two different models.

I've been carrying for over 25 years and the best IWB hoster I've found by a large margin is the Remora.

I carry a G19 in a horsehide Crossbreed Supertuck daily. It's a big holster in terms of width (L-R) and height (top-bottom), but it spreads out the weight of the gun very well. It's also ridiculously comfortable.

Hmm, interesting response on the AG. I'll definitely have to take that into account. I considered the King Tuk as well, but it's another one of those that I'll have to check on in regards to the specific model.

The Remora seems interesting. The only one I could find that was IWB was the no-clip version, which is certainly different. I'll have to do more research on it for sure.

Spats, did you get the combat cut or no? That's the version that seems more in line with my other options as far as size goes.

I did not get the combat cut. I bought it used, and it didn't have the combat cut. That said, were I ordering a new one, I'd get it without. Then if I decided I wanted the combat cut, I'd do it myself.

I completely agree with Japle that Remora works better than anything else I have used. I have a tuckable for my SR9c. The advantage of the tuckable is that it comes with a removable clip that makes it more versatile when a belt isn't possible, so it can be worn clipped with drawstring warmup pants or tucked with dress slacks. I have tried far more expensive options and nothing else comes close for me.

I 've got a horsehide Crossbreed Supertuck for my Sig P239. I echo what Spats says above. It's just a really fundamentally sound holster and about as comfortable as it gets. If I were to give something else a try, next up would probably be the AG.

Btw, I also own a horsehide Theis for a different pistol. I didn't carry it as often as the CBST, but I've always been very happy with it. AFAICT, the Theis is as well-made as the CBST.

the only thing I'd prefer from the King Tuk is that the Tupperware shell cover the entire slide, but then they wouldn't be as universal between the G17 and the G26....
