IWB holster clip snagging shirt

I'm wondering if anyone else have this problem. I got an Uncle Mike's size 36 inside the pants holster for my J-frame. I clip it outside the belt.

I noticed that when I'm practicing drawing, when I lift my shirt up, the shirt sometimes gets snagged by the clip that's holding the holster in place. I noticed it has a notch that sticks out that making it snag.

Am I wearing this wrong? When I was looking at pictures, the clip looks like it goes over the belt. But why would it have a notch that sticks out anyway?

I would think that the clip goes between the belt and pants. The one I have (and never use BTW, my Safariland pocket holster is much better IMO) has a 'lip' on both sides of the clip, leading me to believe it's there to catch both the pants and belt.

Personally I would (and I have) invest in a higher quality holster for daily carry.

Yeah, I actually put it between my belt and pants and that seems to work better. But it seems more secure when I clip it on my belt too. Luckily I ordered Mika's pocket holster, and this should tie me over for the time being.

Get a better holster. I'm not knocking UM, some of them are good stuff, but a lot of their IWB are really cheap. Take a look at Galco or Crossbreed.

Clip on holsters and knives and cell phones are all a bad idea. The clip will snag on everything and will not positively retain your gun. Losing a knife or a cell phone is not a terrible thing, having your gun fall to the ground in public usually will be. A quality holster should have loops or straps so that only the gun can come out, not the holster. Avoid clip on attachments like the plague.

You know, "drail", you're right. Although the clip is easy to put on and take off, by that nature, it isn't secure. There are several IWB holsters that use snap loops for belt attachment. Check those out.
