IWB Carry for Guys Who Like to Eat

Hello Everyone,

First off...this thread is not a joke...

I'm Italian and I love to eat. I'm not a fat guy by any means, but I am far from skinny. So for all of you barrel chested and other such guys who love to eat like me I have found the one Inside the Waistband (IWB) holster that actually works for us.

It is the Thomas Perfectionist from Kramer Handgun Leather. Here is a link...

It is primarily designed to allow the user to carry IWB while allowing the pistol to be more accessible from a seated position. In all seriousness, most of my time spent outside of home and work is with family and friends at restaurants in the seated position.

The secret is that the unusual angle of the holster brings the thickest part of the pistol above the waistline. Currently I am carrying a S&W N-frame with a 4-inch barrel in one under an untucked Guayabara shirts I bought one size too large with a pair of HKS speedloaders on the belt. I am using the standard size pants I wear daily rather than buying a larger waist size. No one gives me a second look.

I hope this helps some folks out there who might have been wrestling with the same problem I have been having with IWB carry.

I'm a bigger guy myself and I also "an IWB holster that puts some leather between me and the hammer and grip tang" as Creature just stated. I really like the Milt Sparks VMII (I have one for all my carry guns, expect the pocket gun of course), they are the most comfortable holster I've found to date. I actually like them better than the OWB's I've tried.

I'm a quite "thick" guy and two IWB holsters I've kept after much experimentation over the years: an Andrews Leather MacDaniel II w/body shield option for 1911 and a Kramer IWB#3 for BHP.

This rig allows one to set a preferred cant angle and has an interchangeable belt loop handle various belt widths. My absolute favorite period :)

Not anywhere as adjustable as the Andrews but solid especially for the Hi-Power.

I'm "barrel chested" as you put it.I have a VersaMaxII,and I loved it,but I found an Alessi Talon Plus works better in my "sweet spot",which for me is about 3:30...

I prefer an IWB holster that puts some leather between me and the hammer and grip tang.

I'm a little stout myself and one of the reasons I like my current IWB (DeSantis Cozy Partner) is the leather barrier between me and the gun.

I too just started carrying and like stevelyn carry in a desantis cozy partner.(M&P 40 compact carry left side bout 7-7:30)Also would like to add that although I am a new poster I have been lurking/reading for awhile now, great site here with lots of help/knowledge!

Agreed. I usually wear a T-shirt under my cover-shirt (between myself and the holster,) but the gun can still be irritating if not covered, IMO. I don't much like a hammer-spur outline on my side :)

Also, I prefer Tuckable IWB holsters, since i must conceal at work so its virtually un-noticable, yet I don't wear a jacket round the office.
