Do you guys find that you need a larger waist size when you go IWB? Once this XD9 goes in my Galco...can't...breathe... :barf:

Yap, you need bigger pants and belts - a whole new wardrobe - but 1 reason why IWB stinks, IMO. 
Go OWB, either BS or paddle - if it's a high ride holster, with a fairly short bbl'ed gun (4" or less), then the exact same covering garment that you would have needed to cover the IWB carry rig, will cover the OWB rig. Good holster, HIGH and TIGHT is the key, with a good belt.

Yes, then once you get the bigger pants, you will find that they have a tendancy to ride down do to the weight of the gun, even with a really good belt. Unless you tighten the belt to the point where the gun is digging into your side and you can't breathe again.

Loose enough weight so you hips stick out enough to hold it up 
For long periods of time, particularly when I'm active, I find OWB to much more comfortable. If I'm in public, I find IWB to more comforting that I won't expose my CCW.

Ok, I ran out and bought some 38's instead of the usual 36's. Now I can actually deal with the pain better.
Tell you something funny though, trying on different pants in the store really had me nervous because I had to take off my IWB/XD9 in the process. I was crossing my fingers no cameras were behind that mirror in the stall.

The funny thing about buying bigger pants is that the body adapts to fill them. 
Seriously though, I carry a Glock 30 in a Don Hume IWB and did not get bigger pants, yet it's still comfortable.

It's a good idea to get a heavy duty (thick) gun belt at least one size larger than your dress belt such as a Galco or DeSantis brand. You can find one for about $30-$60, but they are a good investment for stable carry. Try one on. You are in the same boat as the rest of us. Wearing IWB caused me to think about losing a few pounds to offset the discomfort of tight fitting pants. If you were thinking of dieting, this is a good reason to stay on track until the gun fits comfortable. I am constantly working on this. Maybe someday I'll reach my goal.
Gotta agree about the pants. My baggy jeans arent so baggy anymore
The most important things are a good rig and just finding what part of your anatomy holds a gun best. I also have heard not to get bigger pants because the snugness holds the holster in it's position better on draw/reholster.
