came in the mail today. date code makes it a 1975 uberti 44 target. ran it through the sonic cleaner and plan on some range time tomorrow. the action seems to be tight but the trigger spring is beyond heavy.
edit; make that the hammer spring, it's a 2 finger job!

ij was importing 1858's by uberti and colts by asm, 1975-78. they were also producing the black powder revolvers for colt around that time. similar to lyman of that time, i have a lyman/uberti 1858 import in 36. BC, the hammer was so heavy it was painful to cock due to arthritis in my hand. i thinned the spring down and shortened it to decrease the bow.

I have an Iver Johnson/Uberti Cattleman in .44 Magnum

Date code is XXX.

It is tight as a drum and blast to shoot. I only load BP cartridges for it.

Iver Johnson was importing the 1860 Uberti Army and other Colt replicas but I have never seen a Iver Johnson replicas of the Remington. I will have to note that in Bill Goforths book.
