The I.J. Model 55 is a relatively recent gun (made until the 1980's) and is not bad as I.J.'s go. It is solid frame, with a loading gate but no ejector rod; the empties can be poked out with the cylinder pin.
They sold in the 1970's for around $40, well under half the price of the cheapest S&W or Colt and less than the Ruger Bearcat. The action is antiquated, and generally fairly rough. It is a basic .22 revolver on an 1890's platform, and with no pretenses of being anything else.
BUT PLEASE, don't get any ideas about "tuning" it or improving the trigger pull. You not only won't succeed, you may well never get the thing back together again.
If it works, it is a serviceable plinker, accurate enough for field use but not for target work. Current value is around $100 tops; as described, maybe $30.
