Hello, I was wondering if any one could tell what year my ij was made? I know its a 2 generation serial number c 675xx. 5 shot, 5inch barrel and patient dates april 6, 86. Feb 15, 87. May 10, 87. Aug 25, 96. And .38 cal.

Your gun dates to 1897. It is an antique under Federal law, but should be fired only with black powder or equivalent pressure loads.

Oh really! A little older than I thought it may have been. Thanks! I dont sapose you might know a value of it? I know its a bit difficult without looking at it. But its got some rust around the hammer on the frame, small pitting in the barrel, and the wheel has wear on the cartridge release. If you have some info on that it be great. If not thanks any way for your time!

There is now a reasonable number of people who collect IJ revolvers, where a few years ago the guns were scorned as junk. But just because someone is a collector doesn't mean he is crazy. ;)

So those collectors will pay a bit over the going prices but only for guns in like-new or near-new condition, which your gun does not appear to be. Further, IJ made hundreds of thousands of revolvers in dozens of models.

In short, your gun would probably bring $75 or so retail, if in fully functional condition.
