I've got the "HOTS" for a new pistol

I have a Sig 226/.40 and my smith is building me a 1911.So my attention has turned towards a 9mm to replace the Glock I sold.It was a good pistol and never burped once. But everytime I brought it up I had to make a conscious effot to let the muzzle drop so sights would align properly.Anyways,I'm wanting either a SA-XD 9mm or a Taurus PT911 9mm.My heart is leaning towards the Taurus. Can be carried cocked and locked, has ambi safety(I'm a lefty),and I like the looks.Anyone have experience, likes, dislikes etc. with either one.My choice will be one or the other.:)

You might want to look into the Walther P-99.They've come down a bit in price but not in quality.

I also like the Taurus PT911, but if you want an XD-9, save yourself a few dollars and track down a used HS-2000.

Give CZ a long look!

Outstanding quality and low price. Each of mine has been a real winner. Can't comment on the Taurus - onlly owned revolvers. Good shooting:)

The XD-9 is a nice little pistol. I've only shot a few rounds through one, but was not disappointed.

I wish I could share Kermit's opinion, but I can't. The mechanical operation of the XD-9 was excellent, but I couldn't get decent size groups.
Since you like the 226, why not get one in 9mm? That's what they were designed for. Too large for my hand though. Since you are considering the Taurus, I doubt that size will be important for you.
Definately consider the 229 in 9mm, CZ 75B in either full size or compact, or the Walther P99.
Quite a price range there. Each is very different, but very worthwhile.

Welcome to TFL pinball; but don't follow your heart, unless
you are a gunsmith. And if you prove that you are a worthy
smith; Tauri International needs to hire you.

Take a long hard look at the Taurus. I had the 40 version of the 911, the 940. I havent owned a better gun....Period. Included in the better gun comparison are Ruger, S&W, Beretta, CZ, Kahr etc....The Taurus was easily the same class as any of them.
They are a great gun and has the best safety available IMO.......
Shoot well

Please check out CZ 75B SA

I have one in 9mm and it is a very sweet gun. It is very well made and very smooth to shoot. So smooth I am teaching both my daughters to shoot with it. Very good price and 15 rd mags are cheap compared to others.

Give it a look!

Thanks,
JD
