I've got a new favorite gun shop!

I stumbled on this tiny, out-of-the-way store that you would have to really squint to see, and got there shortly before closing. They had the three things that a really good gun shop should have: 1) friendliness 2) helpfulness and 3) ammo! :)

That's my kind of gun shop! I said something similar in a post last week after I stumbled up on my second new Sig in as many days in one of those shops that tend to blend away into the kudzu and you have to step over several dozing cats to get through to the front door. :D

Nice!

There used to be one like that just up the road from me, a tiny little hole-in-the-wall place... he went out of business not long after I moved to the neighborhood. :(

I think that was just a coincidence...

I make my rounds to all the local small shops and have found more than a few treasures. I also send people I know to these shops to help the owners stay in business - something that benefits me as well as them. A great gun at a low price is a rarity at Cabela's and will be gone in a day, but it might hang around in a small shop long enough for you to get to it.

About 30 minutes northeast of Rockwall (by Dallas) on I-30 is the Ammo Depot in Caddo Mills.

It has been about two years since we passed by and visited.
They are really good people and had a good bit of milsurp ammo plus numerous milsurp rifles.
During the second visit he had about ten Russian MN 91/30s -among other rifle types- and he sometimes brings in 'hostages';) from estate sales.

In Clarkesville TN you might try Allen's Guns, just south of Ft. Campbell, in TN.
He always had a good selection of milsurps during my visits over a year ago.
Guns with plastic don't interest me, unless the plastic keeps the original wood from being cut/scrapped.
