It's official, I'm a Cruffler!

Got my C&R license in the mail today. I expected black helicopters instead. Because of a bank foul up, my ATF check bounced!! I haven't bounced a check in over 10 years, and when the first one does, it's to the ATF!!! Luckily, they ran it though a week later. Whew!

So, anyway, I've got my eyes set on one of those Yugo Mausers as my first C&R gun. Preferrably something that looks very nice, but is still a shooter. So far, AIM surplus is on top of my list for a good price. I also plan on signing up with Century Arms to see what they have going on behind their doors.

Any recommendations for a good source for a first Yugo Mauser? (please note, I live in FL, so Big-5 is out :))

Thanks,
:D LL :D

Congrats!

As a fellow Florida Cruffler, may your bound book sprout subsequent volumes as fast as you can fill it, and your mailbox overflow with sales flyers from SOG, Century Arms International, Gibbs, Midway, Brownell's, and the like...

:D

You guys are a bad influence. Now, I need to apply for a C&R, so I can have neat stuff delivered straight to my doorstep, the way it should be.

I just got my Yugo Mauser and a Swede.

Here is who I went through. Curt is a class act and he sends darn fine rifles. My Swede is in great shape and he said that he was sorry he couldn't get me a brand new one anymore. This thing still looks great and shoots great too. I even put a Bold trigger on it that is on sale at Midway this month and that thing is now a shooter! I just need to order a peep sight now.

Anyway, here is Curt's address. I highly recommend him if you want a nice looking rifle that is a shooter. And his Yugo price is quite competitive. I bought the Yugo too and have not had a chance to shoot it yet because I have not ordered the ammo yet. It looks great though.

Check him out, you will be satisfied. Great guy to talk to too.

If you don't have a C&R, you might be a Democrat in disguise. Don't let others confuse you for a Dem, get your C&R today. The proof is in the license.

First thing is first. make copies and don't sign the original. Then send a copy of to brownells for the trade discount! You will pay for the liscence time and time again just with that.

welcome to the world of crufflering (??)

Congrats on obtaining your 03!

I've really been enjoying the doors that the C&R license has opened to me. I'm also enjoyed being exposed to more of the history of firearms and being able to partake in some of that history. The C&R sure does grease the slides a lot and you'll love pouring over the websites and literature you'll eventually start getting in the mail.

I've been alerted to the fact that TFL is seriously considering a C&R forum. It will be a great place to discuss potential purchases and list the ups and downs of particular rifles that fall outside of the relm of new stuff under this forum. It will also help us all better comply with the C&R regulations. There have been some heated debates as to what is C&R and what's not. We should be able to clarify these items and avoid the pitfalls.

I strongly believe that there is a whole world of crufflers and wanabee crufflers out there waiting to participate. Hopefully, it will inspire more and more firearm enthusiests to apply for their lic. BTW, how long did it take to get (outside of the bank scenario? OUCH)

There is one major problem with a C&R license that you need to be aware of. It will make one or more of your credit cards smoke big time! :) I've never spent so much on guns as when I got mine, suddenly I was collecting all sorts of odd guns. It sure is fun, having them arrive at the door. :)

May I recommend the following site. It's a gun auction that has some real good deals. Look for a seller named "under dog". I bought (among others) an M48 Mauser from him for about $120 that is perfect. He has regular offerings that include Mausers (M98/29, Swedes, Turks, etc) and Mosins (M44, M39, etc.).

Good hunting!
