It's nice to be buying guns again!

Years ago, I had a great collection of guns. Unfortunately, when the economy tanked in 2008, I had to sell of almost every gun I had to make ends meet. My income had been cut by 50% or more at the time.

Luckily, the last few years have been good to me, and I am slowly building my collection back up. I have purchased 4 new handguns and an AR15 in the last 6 months, as well as lots of ammo and accessories. I just landed a great paying job this week, so I will be able to continue purchasing more guns that I have been wanting.

At the time, it was a crappy feeling to have to sell off my guns. But it was either sell my guns, or not have a roof over my head. It had to be done. Luckily the Obama panic pricing had hit, and prices were very high. I had 3 AR15s, an AR10, 15 various handguns, 2 shotguns, and several rifles. All gone except for one handgun.

This was just something that I was thinking about today, and thought I would share. Anybody else have a similar experience?

Been there

I hear you that it had to be done. The advice I give to people is to not sell guns to pay bills. The bills come right back the next month, the guns are gone forever. But if you gotta, you gotta I guess.

I can't say I've ever had to sell any guns to pay bills, but I can relate to you in how I'd feel if I had to. I would be so bummed out if I had to sell just 1 of mine, never mind nearly all of them. Glad things are returning to normal for you though.

I'm am kind of in the same boat now you were in five years ago. I'm making enough to pay the bills but my income has retreated 25%-30% thanks to some bad choices made by the people that own the company I work for, so, I'm putting cash back for a rainy day. I have sold not quite half of what I used to own and have two more up for sale locally. I even sold ammo yesterday.

Glad to hear you've bounced back. Gives me hope.

Good to hear you're able to buy again. I've been through those droughts and they are never pleasant. Fortunately the skies almost always clear. Eventually. :)

Yep! The company I worked for closed it doors and laid everyone off back in 2008. I still have most of my guns but I had to part with a few. I ended up selling my Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .204 Ruger, a Springfield XD Tactical in .45 acp, a Uberti nickel plated S&W Schofield .45, a Walther P1, a Swiss K31 and a sporterized but numbers matching Mauser K98 with Luftwaffe stamps.

I wish I didn't have to sell those. As soon as they were gone it felt like a part of me died. (Ok a little dramatic I know. But I at least had that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. :o)

I had to sell a couple guns in 2008 also. It was awful, I promised myself I would never sell another gun again unless it was a ****.
