I'm waiting for the High Standard version of the 1911A1 to come out. It's going to be a very special gun.
 
There's been alot of talk on this new version for awhile on 1911forum. It is a limited run of only 4000 and its a close as possible copy to the ones made by Colt during WWII. Yes, even the elimination of the Series '80 safety. Suggested retail has been put at around $1000.

I just saw it at a local gunshop, it's a WWII 1911 repro. You can buy a real WWII 1911 in excellent condition for similar money, and you'll have a gun with some history, as well as a good chance of appreciating in value. With my $1000, I'd buy three of the Argentine 1927's from cruffler.com and have $100 left over! I'd still have a WWII pattern 100% 1911 compatible gun, but I'd have a couple of spares. :D
