It's a sellers market on ammo, but....

I'm always been hunting for that good deal for years buying in bulk, (Mostly 9mm/target, .38spl/target "and I don't even shop at Target*, LOL) and I still do.

Well, we all know about the supply and demand thing going on right now "Duh!"

Well, now I'm trying to find ammo that I would have turned my nose up at 6-12 month's ago.

As a regular shooter ("Now has been!"), we regulars are really paying the price, and our once beloved hobby is seriously compromised.

And no, I don't plan on reloading, which is also suffering too (Primers, and such...).

Okay, this is my point! 6-7-8 month's ago, I was getting Fiocchi 9mm for $8.33 a box/50 +$0.50 per box/X20 shipped, and other "Great" deals to be had.

I just wonder if these sellers are just trying to make a quick short buck (Like in the cigar boom, remember?), or they are just trying to slow down the hysteria?

I'm specifically talking about Ammunitiontogo.com (Fiocchi FMJ 9mm $29.99 a box/50) and, Golden Saber 9mm box/25 at $29.99.

What brought this up is, I just got Golden Saber's 185g +P 45acp Box/25 for $18.02+$1 shipping with another order, and 9mm should be cheaper!

Okay, I'm over it!:(

You would not actually pay 29$ for a box of foreign made commercial ball ammo would you? I don't think Fiocchi is seeing any of those extra profits, whenever you buy that, you are making some a****** a rich man, who is laughing at everyone else who is cutting back, while they go on cruises with their wild profits from ammo distribution and come back home to buy a new luxury car.

I hear ya, the company I was buying from was Sportsmanguide, and if he would have known what was about to happen in the future, he would have pulled his Fiocchi's off the shelf's and sat on them.

I'm still sitting pretty, but I don't shoot as much as I used to, and that is an under statement.

On Friday I bought 2k of primers for $31.00 CDN per k (about $26.00 US/k)from my favourite dealer - that's about the same price as last year give or take a dollar or so. I asked the guy about the supply of components and he said they are a bit harder to get and slower to arrive due to the big demand in the US. He also said, and this is key, that the manufacturers have not increased their prices significantly in that time frame (a little to reflect the base commodities fluctations but not too much). Keep this in mind when the prices do settle down and stabilize. Remember who kept their prices reasonable and who tried to gouge you!

Be patient, be vigilant and you Can find good prices. I paid $8.97 per 50 round box of 115 grain CCI Blazer Brass 9mm and $14.97 per 50 round box 230 grain CCI Blazer Brass .45 ACP just today. I also pick up all my brass I can find at the range.

This too shall pass, just make sure to give these antis/liberals their pink slips in 2010. If we let our guard down like we did in 2008, there is no end in sight to all of the madness going on in our great country. Overcoming the mindless masses, is not/will not be easy.

Although I think it will eventually pass, I think it (like the economy) may get worse before it gets better. I think a lot of this is comparable to the rush on guns that happened in post-election November.

That said, it may not be a bad idea to take steps to acquire what you can if you shoot on a regular basis. I'm currently doing so, mainly because I used to buy ammo as I needed it.

Another thing to consider is the fact that everything but the price of American made automobiles has been either steadily rising (guns and ammo) or highly volatile (gas). Guitars have shot up in price. Last years $600 models are now being sold for $750. Jewelry has fluctuated quite a bit as well. You could probably get what you purchased at a retail jewelry store last year for less right now. Gold has shot up, but demand has gone down (and taken many jewelry stores and chains with it). Just a sign of the times.

And people thought I was crazy a few years back when I bought a couple of cases of Russian .380. To quote Barney Fife, "who looks foolish now, sheriff??" :D

awful

I went to my local gun shop, Winchester Wildcat .22 LR was $55 per brick. I am telling everyone I know that if they see it pick me up some. Horrible.

Wow... And I thought everything was more expensive in Alaska...

I can say that our exchange has diligently pursued good deals on ordering ammo and they've passed that on to us coasties... I'm not saying it's cheap up here, but the prices haven't increased at the rate that they have elsewhere... I'm still paying around (+/- $5) what I was a year ago, though now I'm trying to convince them to order primers, bullets, and powder instead of cheapo plinking ammo... I can load it for less than 1/5th of the cost of factory stuff...

BTW: They don't have Win Wildcat, but the cheap Blazer 500 bulk pack is only $13.99... The 'expensive' stuff (velocitors, federal match, etc) is around $5/50rd box...

I am curious how these "antis/liberals" are doing this. From where I sit, it looks like panic buying for no reason. If there was sufficient production to meet demand in 2007, there is sufficient production now, IF people quit freaking hoarding it.

I find it funny how people rail against the "sheeple", yet are more than happy to get sucked into the "Obama" panic buying of both guns and ammo.

Third-hand story from a guy whose son sells sporting goods at a regional chain store. "Got any pistol ammo?" "All I have is some .380" "Good, I'll take all you have...Do you have any pistols in .380?"
