"It's a Ruger"

While I pass out Cigars, my good friend will post pics of latest edition to our family. I apologize for being computer stupid. Be Patient while we try to figure out what we are going to name our baby. I could not have done this without everyone's help and info. Dumped my Taurus Ultralite and EEA Windicator . No offense but good riddance.
Thank you all.

Nice! 4" GP100 right? I'm thinking about one as a dedicated HD piece (and range toy). I think I like the looks of the "blue" better (also have blued M36 and LCR357 - starting to see a pattern here ;) ) but might get a stainless for easier maintenance. What were your deciding factors on this one?

it's a Ruger

All my others were Stainless and I really didn't want to be that obvious. I'm glad I got the model 1702. The price was right and the action is just unreal straight out of the box. Blew my socks off.

Very nice!

I also like the blued version better than the stainless. Maybe a nice set of wood grips to really set it off?

Er, Doc,
You do realize what happens to guys who think they've fallen in love with their guns enough to give them names, don't you?
Keep in touch, though, if they allow you to keep your computer. :):)

Nice! Get some snap caps and practice dry firing double action.

The already good action will smooth out to where it's like glass... my GP100s both did that, they get VERY smooth with some handling! Fantastic guns to say the very least, IMHO the best production medium frame 6 shot .357 magnum currently being produced anywhere.

Got to hold Doc's 4" blued GP100 (well, not his, but one just like it), a 4" Match Champion, and a 3" S&W 686+ at the range today. (Wanted to shoot the rental GP but somebody had beat me to it :( ;) ) I have to say the 3" 686 felt the most balanced, followed by the MC, with the regular GP feeling muzzle heavy by comparison. Of course it had the ugly lock on the side and about $40 more that the MC and $140 more than the regular GP. Maybe I should start looking at 3" GPs too.

The 4" Match Champion, and a 3" S&W 686+ weighes 38 ozs. and 36.8 ozs respectively. that might account for the GP 100's heavier feel at 40 ozs.
in my case it's better for me. But i appreciate your post Slim. Anybody that goes to all that is really cool. I spent hours on getting this.

Its hard to go wrong with a 4" GP100. Its kinda got me wanting a 6" version as well. I do kinda wish Ruger would do something similar to what S&W did and release a 9mm version GP100 for competition shooting.

Congrats on the new addition.

I have had a GP since they hit the shelves at my LGS. I missed the first shipment simply due to them only getting in three, but the second one had 10 in it and I was on the list that time. My first one was the 6" without the full under lug and it looks like a mini Redhawk. A few years later I picked one up from a coworker who went the auto route, in another 6" with the full under lug. Both at the SS versions as I wanted them for hauling around in very dusty and wet areas and didn't want to mess with oiling them down all the time.

You are only beginning the long road to a close friendship I guarantee, I wouldn't be without mine for anything. Of course I feel the same about the rest of them as well. I really play no favorites....really :D
