Very nice!!
I had a nice, original Flues in very nice shape.I don't do that much bird hunting anymore...And when I do,I have a Beretta 686 Essential O/U that I "miss less often" with.
I greatly appreciate the aesthetics of the side by side. That's what I started with. A Stevens 530A ST,made in Chicopee Falls.
Between it and the Ruark I read as a kid,I just have a "thing"for what they represent.
Ialso don't need so many things hiding in the dark corners of my gunsafe.
As sort of a legacy,a few years ago I gave it to my Grandson. He is eight now.
I told his Dad it was OK for him to borrow it occasionally.
Maybe in eight or ten years,he'll be ready to use it.
And maybe in fourty years...he'll be holding it,after finishing a chapter of his Dad's old copy of "The Old Man and the Boy"....
And Ruark might take him to rowing out and setting decoys with The Old Man,or Quail as a Gentleman'd bird.
Pleasant thoughts.
