Ithica 1911a1 value

Hello,
I’m considering putting my US Military Ithica 1911a1 up for sale and I’m looking for a ballpark price. It’s a late war production (1945 I believe 2,094,6xx sn)) and 70% to 80% original finish. The bore is bright and I believe the magazine is original (stamped with a “s” on top of the toe). I’ll post some photos and I’d appreciate any help. I can take additional photos as needed.
Thank you in advance.
Ray

While I can't answer how much you should ask for it, but if you are willing to ship to FFL I would be interested in hearing how much you decide you want for it.

You would get 1400 to 1500 pretty quickly on that gun. More then that and someone would have to really want it. It looks easy 70% to 80% nice 1911 you have. Just my opinion, and anything goes in collector firearms, which WWII 1911s definitely are.

It looks to of been refinished at some point. I say this because the lettering is not as crisp and well defined. If so, then the next question is whats underneath?

If I am correct, then the dollar value just dropped significantly. :(

I know you stated it was the original finish. How do you know or what leads you to believe it is?

Hopefully others who handle a lot more firearms or own a similar M1911A1 will jump in and help us out here. Back in my military days, I carried a lot of various M1911A1's. This was a lot of years ago. Yes, they were parkarized , but you could see the lettering and numbers a lot clearer.

Looks pretty good original to me lamarw. I was also guessing on value, but looks pretty \\\\I love Colts or Rocks Islands only made 1945. Don't laugh that was a joke.

Ok I look again the field stripped pistol strikes me as odd. Does'nt appear much wear on anything. To good to be true usually is.

Please compare this picture form Coolgunsite to the second picture the OP posted of his pistol: http://coolgunsite.com/images/1911/1942 Rem Rand/MVC-846F.JPG

Does anyone else see the difference I was referring to? For the original poster sake, I would like to think I was wrong.

More Information: Also notice how the serial number overlaps the UNITED STATES PROPERTY stamping. Now look at the pictures here: http://www.gunauction.com/buy/10245244

I have not seen that before and maybe others have seen it.

I saw it instantly crisp on your pics and dull and filled in on his. A real problem for a sale on a original. Sorry you asked the question and got your answer. Most collectors know their stuff and will notice and question anything. But it still real just not collector grade.

There are so many flaws with this gun. The grip covers the beginning rollmarks, the flawed rollmarks. I'll buy for 700 and figure it out ok.

Believe me I've owned many back to 1916 Colt 1911s. And almost back to 1913 1911 but no one knows everything, and apparently I don't know much. Mind open mouth closed is lesson

Only reason I didn't own the 1913 was. It was pointed out to me --I had made payments to $3000 dollars. It had a series 70 arched mainspring and something else I don't remember. But it was the gunshop looked at it and I sent it back to seller. Now that gun is probably worth $2500 in todays market. For real much more as not that many Commercial Colts made 1913 or 1916 like one I bought and sold.

The A1 was 1924?
I have a 1911 A1 Ithaca that I have dated to 1945.
