Good afternoon,

This morning, I became the proud, new owner of of an older Model 37 Ithaca shotgun. The serial # is 9198xx.
The gun is about 95% with some blueing wear. It has a 28 in. barrel. The furniture finish looks great...no dents, scrapes or field marks. There is engraving on both sides of the reciever. Could any of you gurus please tell me about this piece, its age, value, etc. I'd appreciate it.

I found an old Featherlight 12 gauge..but I have never fired an Ithaca..I put it on layaway..I liked the engraving on it :) the barrel is 30 inches long with a modified choke

I bought a brand new 12 ga Ithaca mod 37 Featherweight in 1961. I was 17 years old. It was the best shotgun I ever owned. I forget what it cost me, but $65.00 sticks in my head. I've got one in 16 ga that I inherited from my fil. I gave the 16 to my son and I traded my 12 for an Ithaca XL900 in 20 gauge with a full choke barrel and a deerslayer barrel many years ago. I wish I still had that 12. Put a lot of food on the table with that piece.

They have a nice feature from the old days...

Hold the trigger down and pump the gun... it shoots when you close the slide... ;)

Try it rapid fire... some fun. :D
