Ithaca M&P price check

Just wondering on the value of an "as new" Ithaca M37 M&P. 7+1 round tube. Parkerized. Serial # is 87???? which I think is circa 1964.

It looks to have been briefly handled, but the breech face, etc. don't show any signs of it being fired.

Just arrived at my local gun shop.

Thanks,

Jeff

Best price I've seen here in Carolina was $225 (police trade-in) and up. One thing I really like about mine is the choke - some were made with full choke barrels and for my purposes that is exactly what I wanted. Might want to check that feature out - may not be a good thing if you plan to use 00 buck - poor patterns due to pellet deformation.

Need to be a bit careful with the trigger - no disconnect on the older M37s. If you hold the trigger down, it'll fire every time you pump.

Thinking about it a bit, quality is online with any firearm ever made in America and you have the extended magazine. I'd probably not pay more than what a 870 police model would fetch in your area NIB.

Thanks.

I've been looking at a new HD shotgun. I have my 18" M97 which I used when I shot SASS. I also have a WWII Stevens 620. No disconnect is not a big deal.

I could pick up a MilSpec M500 for $279 and the FN (Winchester 1300) for under $300. They want $425 for this Ithaca.

The Remington 870P's seem to be about $400 around here and their standard 7 round HD 870's are under $300.

Owning an Ithaca would be great, but the price seemed rather steep for my budget.

my vote would be the rem 870 hd. i think the only diff between it and the police are swivel stud/bayo lug? not worth the $$'s.

thanks

Thanks.

I'm going to make sure I have the chance to handle a few before I buy. Unfortunately, I like wood furniture on my guns and most of the HD guns these days come with synthetic stocks.
