I have a model 37 with no serial number, just a U.S. stamped on the receiver. It has a featherlight barrel with no rib. The checkering pattern on the butt stock does not match the for-stock. It looks older but a have no way of knowing just how old. Could this be a gun pieced together from a military action? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
