Items in the trunk (on the flagstaff)

OK, someone help me. I was talking with the kids (well their not really kids anymore) and we were trying to remember the 3 items in the trunk. Matches, one round of ammo, and ????
 
tent, blanket, firearm, flashlight, and hazard sticks. And a good thing to have a spare tire, four way, and a jack. LOL

Do you mean the truck? The pulley at the top of the main flagpole on a military base?

I haven't verified this, but fellow recruits confidently informed me during Basic Training that either the truck or the base of the flagpole contained <UL TYPE=SQUARE>
A M1911 and one round
A razor blade
A box of matches
</UL>

The idea being (whispered in breathless tones) that the last person on the base would lower the flag, shred it with the razor blade, set fire to it and then off himself with the pistol.

Since I haven't seen the FM or TM on Stands, Last, Heroic, I pretty much file this away under Urban Legends (Military).

That was it, a razor blade was what I couldn't remember. I've got two sons in the Corps and a daughter currently about halfway through POST for the PD. They were discussing it and none of us could remember the razor blade.

Thanks, now I can sound like a Dad again, instead of the uhhhh, well I used to know...

And the Post flagstaff is always Bldg. #1.
