Italian v. American Beretta 92fs

I have an Italian 92fs that has been 100% flawless for 1000's of rounds. A friend of mine has had his American made 92fs since his academy. It too has had 1000's of rounds throuh it w/o a hiccup.
My question is this, he and I ran into a guy at the range that swears up and down that the Italian ones have better made barrels and slides and that the ones the gov't had problems with were American made. Is there any difference between the two other than country of origin?

The finish on my Italian Beretta is a little better than my American one, no other major differences. IIRC, the problem the gubmint had was from shooting lots of ammo that was in excess of 70kpsi, more than twice the SAAMI limit. No gun could hold up to that for long.

Think their both great. The only reason the early Italian manufactured 92's have a little lighter trigger standard is the lawyers hadn't started in yet.
My guess, if you disassembled one of each, mixed the parts, then re-assembled you would still have two great looking, highly functional and reliable handguns.

The ones the Govt had problems with were 92-F. As bedlamite says, they were using ammo beyond spec. and the slide was getting blown off (into face) on recoil. The 92-FS added a slide stop that fixed the problem. It had nothing to do with country of origin, and nothing to worry about if you use approved ammunition.
