Well, just as one stupid law dies (namely, the Federal Assault Weapons Ban) another stupid law is given life. The governor signed AB50 into law yesterday.

Leave it to the liberal California legislators (and a couple of moderate republicans) to make a law for a problem that doesn't exist.

No information on other legislation, awaiting action from the governor, but this action, if the above is correct might answer a question I asked earlier. Are California gun owners better off with Arnold, wores off, or is it a wash, compared to Gray Davis?

People who live in other states, as do I, had best keep the proverbial eye pealed, given that California is the "model", that so many, for some reason, emulate. Don't ask me why, because I most certainly do not know.

Are California gun owners better off with Arnold, wores off, or is it a wash, compared to Gray Davis?

Why was that ever a question? Arnie's been on record as an anti for a long time. He won't pursue it as ardently as Davis, but he's still an anti.

keep the proverbial eye pealed

That's "peeled", as in, not covered. Open.

Many thought that because he has a republican label that he is one .Well for one thing he married into the Kennedy family ! And he's in PRK !...Forget the 50BMG and get a 338 Lapua, it's a nice cartridge .

Mete:

I used to shoot 1000 yard competition. Never had any problems using the 30-06, and for several years, at the beginning of my competition years, I fired the 30-06 from the U.S. Rifle, Caliber 30 M-1 otherwise known as The Garand.

Quartus:

Thank you for the correction. Now that you mentioned it, Pealed would have refered to one Mr. Peal, possibly ending in e, who was connected with the beginnings of Scotland Yard, or was it the London Police Department?

Alan,

You are thinking of Sir Robert Peel. He was chief secretary for Ireland when he initiated legislation for the Irish Peace Preservation Force, and later the Constabulary Act for the Constabulary Police of Ireland. Back in England he introduced the Metropolitan Police Act founding the first regular police force in London (and hence the name "Bobbies" or originally "Bobby's Boys).

Considering the prominance that Liberals like Arnold and Rudy were given at the Repub convention, it looks like the new direction for the party is a hard left turn onto Grabber boulevard.

This can't be. Arnold is a Republican. I should post this at Free Republic just to watch the foaming at the mouth neo-cons defend it, but I'm already feeling a little ill today, why make things worse.

LAK:

You are right, and I now remember the why's and wherefores of the "problem". When I was a "school boy", a very long time ago, I usually scored about 85% is spelling tests. As I recall, 90% was the passing grade. My typing isn't all that good either.
