This is not intended to be a political post at all.

My LIFETIME carry permit just came, and I wanted to share the good news, is all!

Now I don't have to worry about renewing every four years... ever again! :) :) :)

But I'm curious . . . What state are you in, that has such a thing as a lifetime carry permit?

Here in NC we have to renew every 5 years.

You might give 'em a call. I don't have the number handy, but I called to see how long it would take, and three days later I had it.

I applied in January and received it just the other day.

Go to the ISP website and look for the firearms licensing division. Call and ask how long - it's worth a shot.

Funny you mentioned that. I called information for their number yesterday. Well I got the number, but they closed 10 minutes prior to me having the number so I'll wait until Monday and see whats up. I know I'm clean and filled everything out the way I needed to. In all honesty, the girl who did my prints and sent my info in said that it could be up to 12 weeks, and we're not quite to the 12 week mark yet, I'm just getting impatient. Man I'm glad we've got the lifetime so I don't have to mess with this again.
 
Mine took almost three months and had me quite worried as my four-year expired before my lifetime came back. I called the state police about it and they informed me that I was still OK to carry so long as I had both my old license and my renewal receipt on me while doing so.
 
I find it hard to understand that a state would issue a lifetime permit. They assume you will never be involved in a crime or other disqualifying situations. Of course there are a few states that don't require permits at all, oh well I don't live in those states or yours.
 
Ssshhh - in NY they haven't figured out the we have lifetime, no-renewal permits yet. I'm waiting for Gov. Patterson to start.
 
The issue I see with the lifetime is your height, weight, looks change some over your lifetime. And to convince the LEOthe 6' 195lb guy with hair is you 20 years later at 260lbs and bald might take some doing.

My state issues driver's license that expire when you're 60. Wonder if my 32 year old daughter will still be looking young when she's 60?

BTW - They can take that license away anytime, just like they can my 5 year CCW permit if a felony is involved.
 
Mbopp you cant go around telling our little secrets:D I'm surprised you didn't mention being able to go out to a restaurant that sells alcohol...with our guns:eek:

Seriously, congrats El Chivato on your lifetime permit.
 
Well, I finally got in touch with ISP Firearms Div. They claim that I'm not even in their system yet. I applied through my co. sheriff on 12/30/09. I checked and both cashiers checks finally cleared on 1/19 (county) and 1/21 (state police), yet I can't believe it took a month for those to clear the bank. Since it hasn't been 8 weeks from that date they were cashed, they weren't surprized that I wasn't in their system yet. So, I should only have to wait until the end of next week, if I havn't got it in the mail by then, they said to call them back.........So the wait goes on.....
 
I guess it's kinda ironic. I called them on Monday (3 days ago) asking the status, they said I wasn't in the system, it was delivered today. Either way, finally here....
