Is their a website that tells you the Issued firearm in a certin state or area. My brother thinks that ALL police in the USA use a 9mm Beretta which I do not believe is true. He also thinks CZ firearms are cheap which only forign countries buy. My brother doesnt really know anything about firearms. He only has one gun, a lever action shotgun which was our great uncles( I got his 22)

I remember a thread about a year ago that listed the issue weapons of state police agencies, you could try a search if that's what you're looking for.

Short of that, I can only help with Flint and Ann Arbor, MI areas.

I dont know what our local departments use, because they seem to have a choice. I have seen both glocks and sigs. Pick a handgun, and some agency has probably at least considered using it.

Well, he is wrong, you are right. Just tell him that I was talking to a trainer for the Cobb County (Ga.) PD just this weekend at a Christmas party, and asked him what their standard issue sidearm is -- he said that they were using Glocks (several models) in .40 S&W, they are using Winchester Ranger SXT's for ammo. That alone refutes your brother. In fact, there is no accepted "Standard" LE sidearm in the US, that is determined on a by-department basis.

That's a given :D

Mostly Glocks and Sigs in the Eugene, Springfield area. I have seen other different types in the holsters of the Sheriff Deputies, I think they are just given a gun allowance and a list of approved firearms.

Man, nothing could be further from the truth. There's a whole hodgepodge of stuff being issued out there. Ours are Glock 17's. OHP is issued Sigs. Hancock Co. SRT is issued Kimber 1911's! And that's not including officer-owned weapons carried on duty.

Around here issued guns include some SigSaurs, Glocks of various models, 1911s, Smith and Wessons, and yep - the Berretta 92. FWIW.

Well if by 'foreign' he means all of NATO, then he's correct as the CZ-P01 is NATO's choice of pistols.

If by 'cheap', he means inferior - he is truly exhibiting his firerams ignorance. CZ's are well-constructed, accurate, tough, ergonomically superior, and economically reasonable.

If I were you I wouldn't even bother arguing with him - the egg needs to hatch before he even gets to 'Grasshopper' status!!!

I have seen, <ahem> 'mature' Dallas PD officers still carrying revolvers -- I guess they are grandfathered in. I think new ones have to use semi-autos and most that I have seen are SIGS.

Sig P226's at the department I worked at.

Prior to that it was whatever the officer wanted to carry in .38, .357, 9mm, or .45ACP.

Iowa State Patrol will be switching to S&W MPs shortly and CRPD uses glocks. Before you show him the light bet him money. You know what they say about a fool and his money...
