I just saw an add for 9mm Isreali Brownings
made by Fabrique for there security police.
Pistol comes with IWB holster, 2 mag pouch and 2 13 round mags. Suppose to be in good to excellent condition.I believe the add stated they were made in the 50's. The price was $279.
Anybody have any of these and are they any good? Might be my next purchase
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Happy Shooting :)

I have one from the previous batch.

They are not "good to excellent." According to the AIM website, the finish is good to very good and the gun is mechanically excellent.

Some people got good ones. Others didn't. Mine was very beat up (chipped off metal, scratches, etc.) and the extractor broke in 100 rounds and had to be replaced. The magazines were okay, but the holster and the mag carrier are awful and nearly useless.

If you are looking for a beat-up shooter, then it's an okay buy. If you are looking for a clean, nice used gun, it isn't a good buy, in my opinion.

Skorzeny thanks for the input. With what you have said here I think I'm going to pass. I was hoping for a good shooter and a good collector. I bought some of those CZ pistols from SOG and I was not disappointed they were great for the money. I just ordered an E. German Mak from them also hoping for the same. But I guess I'll pass on those Brownings
Thanks alot for your input :)

The great body of our citizens shoot less as time goes on. We should encourage rifle practice among schoolboys, and indeed among all classes, as well as in the military services by every means in our power. Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world... The first step- in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come- is to teach men to shoot!

My experience was a little different from Skor's.

My pistol was the classic "carried a lot, shot only a little." The finish had some scratches, but internally, the gun was perfect. It looks as if it hadn't been shot. As an added bonus, my gun came with night sights. The holster and mag pouch, while a little cheesey, are quite functional. I ordered an additional 4 mags, and all mags function flawlessly. This has been one of the best gun bargains I've ever gotten.

Like Skorz said, it depends on what you are looking for. If I was looking for one to keep 'as is' I sure would not buy one. Mine is fine mechanically but looks bad. All I wanted was the slide, frame, and barrel though. Everything else internally is being replaced with C&S parts, the Novak sights require milling the frame and the checkering on the frame will require the entire gun be refinished so I was only worried about the mechanical integrity of the major parts. A 1950's gun will have the internal extractor.

I'm thinking about getting one of these myself. I did get one from the last batch, maybe the last one in that batch. It looked terrible. I like to say it appeared to have been tied to a bumper and dragged through the streets of Haifa. The finish was terrible, dirt and dust in the internals, and the holster was taped together. The mag pouch is usuable and the mags are ok. I ended up getting it bead blasted and refinishing it myself with Brownells teflon-moly finish. It works pretty good, but I intend to replace the springs as they are too stiff.
Per AIM's ad, these should be in better condition. I'd like to get another just so I'll have some to hold onto and pass on to my kids. I figure that by the time they're old enough to buy one themselves, they won't be able to (damned gun laws!!) or they won't be available. This way they'll have something decent and hi-cap.

Got one from last batch, was made in 92, outside finish was poor, but was in excellent mechanical condition with tight barrel lockup. Did not get it with thoughts towards fixing it up, but to have a functional HP that didn't need to worry about keeping unmarked. For the price i would consider a best buy. If you want one of these, it may be best to specify that you want one of the newer models (dovetailed front sight) with matching numbers. If you buy enough mags at the price quoted for when you buy pistol, you may be able to resell some of the mags to pay for most of the price of pistol.

PS-almost forgot, AIM is advertizing the 50's era pistols in excellent original condition for more than $279, believe these are completely different than the Israli security pistols being currently advertised for $279. AIM has website at www.aimsurplus.com
