Isreal 1911 ignorance

I was reading a magazine featuring a buyers guide in this months issue. (GUNS I think, not sure)
Two pistols listed are labeled Israel 1911 models…
I don’t think it said Israel Arms, but I am not certain.
Either way, I can’t find anything about this (pistol) manufacturer on the internet…
They are inexpensive as compared to others listed.
Can anyone direct me to company information and personal experience?

There are two israeli 1911 manufacturers I know of. First one is Bul Transmark (their marketing manager is a top class IPSC shooter), the 2nd one is IAI with some cheap copies...

Hey there 9/11, seeing from this and your other postings, you are a first time gun-buyer.

My only advice is that the first gun you buy should be a common brand of manufacturer (Colt, Glock, Kimber, Springfield, etc.). This is very important since this will be your primary SD/HD gun.

The advantages outweigh the disadvantages. While the price may be higher, you will own something that many people have familiarity with and can provide their experiences and advice. Problems with well-known guns will be well-known.
You will be able to find parts much easier for it. You may even have problems getting additional magazines for an off-brand gun.
Worse case, you will be able to sell a name-brand gun easier if you have to.

After looking into 1911-types, also investigate the CZ-97 (.45ACP) as well as the CZ-75 (9mm). These are good firearms at reasonable prices. Please start by using the "SEARCH" feature.

I own several Israel Arms 1911's. The ful sized model and the duotone commander model. Both have very tight fits and accuracy with the full size at 25yds offhand is 2.25" while the commander sized model shoots 2.6" at 25 yds. Both of my IAI 1911's have over 10k rounds through them and never once a malfunction. Some may call them cheap copies, I paid $275 for the commander and $315 for the full size. But don't let price fool you as to quality.

Also, for a first gun, I'd get someone who knows guns and you trust to go with you and buy used. I don't own anything purchased new except one .22 rifle--a gift from grandpa. No sense spending the money for the new-gun smell for your first pistol. Most people don't put a dent in the service life of an average pistol before they sell it anyway.

1911 is a good choice, though. :D I started with a SIG 220 which I got for about the same price as a lower-end 1911 by buying it used. Great gun, but if you like the 1911 trigger you might not like the double/single transition on the 220.
