is there a race gun load for 9mm??? if so what do you guys use powder, bullet, case, primer. I have a glock 17L that Ineed a load for.
thanks kenneth ( I am not real up to date on ispc, idpa might be a dumb question)

First check the rules for IDPA and IPSC. They each specify power floors and they might be different.

open or limited?

if limited...

VV320 4.0 with montana gold 124gr..that will make minor out of a 6"....bump to 4.2 for a steel match....that makes 135pf in my g17..

Hodgdon Clays and a Zero 147 JHP, work up over the chrono to get 130 pf. You will be amazed at how flat and soft it shoots, feels like a 22. If that feels too sluggish out of the 17L Universal and a 124 Zero brings some of the snap back to the gun without getting harsh at all.

HSMITH gives the proper load--though it can also be done pretty well with a Berry's plated 147. That assumes you shoot Production in IPSC. You can't shoot a 17L in sanctioned IDPA matches, IIRC; check your rulebook and consult your local rangemaster. If you could, it would also be at the 125 PF level. No-one shoots 9 in limited (no-one who wants to be competitive in limited, anyway) because it would be at a decided scoring disadvantage, not having a bore of .40 or greater. A few folks do load major 9mm's (i.e., 165 PF) for open division, but it's a specialist's affair, a red-line project, and would be pretty unpleasant to shoot in a non-comped gun.

A33102; I AM competitive, but I don't/won't win

I shoot 9x10 in Limited; my % is slowly receding into obscurity.....

I shoot Major 9 in my Limited on rare occasion, but I still score Minor.

Of course, I'm nutty; I use Redhawks in Revolver, I use 8-rd mags exclusively in my L10 1911 --'cause it has a ghost-ring rear blade mounted in its BoMar base-- I bought a 9x19 1911 for Single Stack, but may add a ghost-ring rear to that, too; my Open gun wears iron sights. I really am receding......
