A good friend of mine is heading to Cincinnati soon, which means it looks like he'll have to leave his semi-automatic Springfield XD-40 at home. He's pretty new to "the gun thing", so this is his epiphany with regards to the absurdity of gun-control laws.
Anyway, just out of curiosity -- how common is it for cities, towns, muninipalities, etc. to have laws more restrictive than state laws? Do any of you live in, or know of, cities with a similar affliction? Is Ohio's city-preemption law the exception rather than the rule among CCW states? How about for rifles/carbines (since Cincinnati's laws govern those, too)?
EDITED to clarify:
Cincinnati restricts semiautomatics - not just mag capacity, "assault rifles", etc. That's more what I meant to address -- it seems weird to me that the city would restrict a certain type of action (i.e. semi-automatic). I understand that some states allow their cities to be more restrictive about gun laws, but is the "no semiautomatics" kind of thing all that unusual?
