is TK custom asking for trouble?

I was on the TK custom website, and saw that they cut taurus judges for moon clips so you can shoot the .45 acp out of it. I know that the judge is not made for that! The chamber walls just don't seem thick enough to handle the pressure. But I also don't think TK custom would do this if it would cause a a problem. I'm not really sure what my question is...thoughts?

I don't think they'd offer it if it wasn't safe. Also, doesn't the .45 acp operate at a lower pressure than .45 lc?

Edited to add: I had to confirm what Jim said. I was mistaken. For some reason I thought handloaded 45 Long Colt (for Ruger, maybe) pressures approached 44 mag levels.

SAAMI .45 ACP maximum chamber pressure is a good deal higher than SAAMI .45 Colt, which is made to be safe in early smokeless guns.

He apparently considers that the Judge has enough safety margin to hold ACPs. Then there are the losses as a bullet makes the long trip down the .45 Colt - .410 shot compromise chamber.

The real question is why anyone would buy that gun in the first place.

+ 1 on buying in 1st place.

Seems with either the "Judge" or S&W's "Governor" folks either hate 'em or love 'em. I must be one of the few that don't own one, but have shot them and have a indifference. Other folks buy their guns with their money. Why they buy what they do and what they do with them after they buy them is little concern to me as long as that purpose is legal and safe. I tend to support other firearm enthusiasts even if their choices in firearms are different than mine. Kinda a bird of a feather thingy.......

it isn't like the .45 ACP is some crazy high pressure round... I'm sure a properly made judge wouldn't have any issue.

45acp is within the established industry standard of "hmmm i need to establish a cylinder strength a certain percentage higher then the max allowed pressure in this cartridge, just in case you know..."

look at the corbon website, they say the judge is ok for at least 200 rounds of a certain 45 colt above saami load they sell. that load last i checked is 45acp territory.
