Is this the lightest .308

While I question Bushmaster quality, I can't honestly say i've seen a lighter base configuration for an AR-10. If you end up getting one, let us know how it runs for you.

I'm not planning on buying, but I found it interesting how little it weighs. I couldn't remember of any weighing less.

I'm happy with my LWRC repr, but it does weigh a good amount.

Yeah, while i dont own one i have handled the LWRC REPR. Would love to own one but the price tag and the 10 lb. weight (mostly on the front end) have procluded me from getting one. While im sure its a quality combat arm, I can't see a great civilian use for it other than to own a great big BLACK GUN. If we ever need to revolt against the government i'd be happy to stand next to a REPR owner, otherwise, i just can't justify a use for it. There are many better hunting guns in that caliber at a much better price. But if your will is to own a top end combat rifle, you certainly couldnt do much better then the REPR.

I am not sure the weight is credible. My DPMS LR308 L has an 18 in light bbl with some fluting.,a graphite free float tube, and no sights. The Bushmaster says its a heavier bbl contour. The DPMS had a skeletonized A-2 stock. It wt was 7.9 lbs.I do not know where they could lose the nearly two pounds.Interesting.Not many .223 ARs are lighter than this .308 platform advertises.I suspect that 6 is supposed to be an 8.

WOW, Bushmaster is seriously pimping that thing all over the web. There are dozens of slightly modified BLOG postings with fake reviews out there from no where. They all the singing the praises of their new toy, posting all the Company stats and proper ordering code like they just invented the next 1911 pistol or something.

Honestly I am embarrassed for them if things have gotten that bad that they need to go such lengths in marketing. Just google one of these for an idea:

"Not often do you unearth a seriously great tactical rifle at an ultra reduced price."

"It's not often you unearth a seriously excellent tactical rifle at an awesome
reduced price"

etc,

They should be ashamed of themselves. Based on the false advertising campaign alone I would say there is no way that rifle weighs 6.1 pounds unless you remove the lower receiver. Someone go to gun shop and put it on a scale (before they all run out lol).

Add a loaded 20rd mag, a sling and you're pushing 8lbs. That's light by AR10 standards. It has all MOE gear so I don't think you could shed much more weight off it. A skeleton stock and carbon tube may get you 8-10oz.

I would like to see what the recoil is like. My 21" rifle is heavy, 12+lbs, and recoil is just slightly more than a typical 5.56 AR.

6.1lbs? That's AR15 territory...And this AR10 has a heavy barrel. HBAR + AR10's larger receiver, and color me skeptical.

There is something *very* wrong with the photo in the listing. The magazine well looks short to my eye, and a 20 round .308 magazine should have a more or less parallel, not angled, aspect compared to the barrel. Something is rotten in Denmark, methinks.
