Is this odd?

I was wondering if anyone else has a obession with Tokarev's, Nagant's, Mauser C96's, Makarov's, SAA's, OLD PPK's, VP70's, Lugers and yes 1911's and Double Eagles or am I just an odd ball....I would gladly take one of those over a striker fire any day.

hmm.. interesting tastes.. i must confess sharing some of them with you - ppk's, mak's, saa's, etc... and there are several more (webley, etc).. but i find them interesting more as curiosities - guns you don't often see. not for serious use, of course, no home or personal defense, but just to own and collect, yes.

I'd kinda like to get my hands on a t33 and I love 1911's

I gotta be honest though, if it's a gun I'm interested. I have and love anything that goes bang just about.

Not me. I'm young, and the gun world is relatively new to me, so i'm into striker-fired pistols (glocks, kahrs), big revolvers (ruger), shotguns (remington), and AR-15's (bushmaster). Maybe when i'm older i'll come around...

They are all viable for self defense, its just a matter of reliability. Do you really want to depend on gun that is 60+ years old? The new PPK's are carried all the time as CCW's and Mak's are reliable as hell anyway, the rest are kinda uncommon to OWN no less to carry, I don't know how I would feel carrying a Tokarev for my main personal defense pistol, and home defense is usually taken care of by a Mossberg.

My father has 3 of the items you listed, multiples of some. He has a West-German PPK (not ancient, but the West-Germany thing is cool), a 1911 my great uncle stole after he got out of the service (Korea), and 4 Luger pistols (all with matching parts) including 1 field artillery Luger with the snail magazine and butt stock. It'll be a while before I inherit those.

My father does have an obsession with Lugers. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with them, but I do respect them for the fine pieces of history they are. I like the 1911 the best.
