Is This Normal?

I just fired my Sistema Colt today for the first time.I was shooting Blazer FMJ (100rds) and then tried putting my Federal hydra-shoks thru it.When loaded to 8 rds the 1st round would get stuck when slide was slammed back. This didn't happen though when I had the magazine loaded with 7 rounds.I was using chip mccormick 8rd power mags.I tried this 4 times and everytime the mag was loaded to 8 it would FTF.With 7 it fed fine. This only happened with the HP's not the ball.Does this mean that when carrying HP's , I have to carry only 7 in magazine?

You have just discovered why it is recommended that you try your defense ammo before you need it. ;)

I've read of a lot of TFLers have gone to the Wilson mags after having "problems" with the Shooting Stars. I haven't had any of those problems and love 'em. But to answer your question: probably not, but you'll have to try them in your gun to know for sure.

BTW, I am always "in the market" for another Chip McCormick 8-rounder.:)

It may or may not be a mag problem.

I use the 8-round McCormick mags without problems in my tuned Norinco. (In fact, the only mags that give me problems are 10-round McCormicks, and I download by one and have no problems .)

You might want to try polishing the feed ramp first, if you've got a felt bob and a Dremel tool. That's the easiest first step. If that doesn't do it, I'd take it to a gunsmith for a quick examination and tune-up. That extra round is a nice PLUS.
