Looks pretty good to me.
MikeGoob,
That is a really nice animation. I'm impressed.
In addition to the trigger not moving, mentioned by GSUEagle1098, I do not see the sear move, nor the firing pin. I note with tremendous admiration that the disconnector is operating, though.
Playboypenguin, I can see the barrel tilt. If you look closely at the locking lugs, you can see the barrel disengage from the slide.
It would probably be too much to add in the firing pin block that the Series '80 Colts have. It might make the drawing too "busy" to see the other parts clearly. So, I am guessing that omission was a good choice.
The squeezable mainspring housing is an interesting design touch. Is that in lieu of the grip safety working?
STI has a free, downloadable screen saver the depicts the operation of their 1911 45 ACP. On a 21" screen it is full size and as the gun cycles, the manual safety and grip safety operate and the magazine gets pulled and re-inserted, too. And it runs much slower, so it is easier to see the operation. It also has 3 different versions that show different depictions of the internal workings. The three versions take turns on the screen with each shot. Sorry, I don't have the specific URL, but if you go to STI.com you should find it.
Nice work. How long did it take you to do it?
Are you going to do a gas-operated semi-auto next? (Actually, I think a lever-action or pump action would be interesting, as would a very slow-motion view of a cartridge being fired, then being sized, de-primed, and going through the reloading process)
I had a magazine like that once. The trouble with it was that, though it never ran out of bullets, they had no stopping power and would not cycle the action.
It's late. I'm punchy. Good night.
