Is this common?

I learned to shoot early in my life with revolvers. I took a major break from the sport and re-started with semi-autos. Naturally, I bought a large range of semi's.

Anyway, when I wore the semi's CCW...they tended to pull my pants down...I ended up pulling them up every ten paces (this was with a good gun belt...actually several). I decided to get a S&W 642...light .38 special +P. This is a great pocket gun and, heck, my pants stay up. Besides, in loose fit pants my pocket is more accessible than my belt.

OK, to my point. Due to the weather, I had not fired the revolver until yesterday. I am much more accurate with the snubby than with my 3 and 4 inch semi's. What the heck is going on?

Thanks, Keko

The accuracy between a 2in revolver a 3.5in auto is roughly the same. If I was to carry a auto it would in a shoulder holster as I don't wear a belt.

Well, I am not an expert, but, I have always heard that revolvers were more accurate than semi's...or maybe you really are just more comfortable with them since that is what you started with.

I doubt there is enough accuracy difference between the 2 for anybody to tell the difference out to 100 yards or more. The difference is in your ability to use the mechanical accuracy. You seem to be able to get more out of your round guns. Nothing wrong with that. Use what works for you and you are comfortable with.

That sounds crazy to me.The only thing I have to offer is maybe you haven't masterd the autos yet. Some one told me a 1911 was the hardest auto to learn to shoot.I have shot alot all of my life and consider myself pretty good with a handgun, rifle or shotgun and have the tropheys and buckles to prove it.My favorite revolvers have always been s&w k frames. When I bought my first 1911, I'm not kidding, I'll bet I fired 500 rnds thru it before I figured out how to shoot it,that has never been the case with a revolver. If a 2 inch snubby will out shoot a quality 4 inch semiauto at between 25 to 50 yds I would have to see it to believe it.I would guess you need to burn up some rounds in your auto's.

My guess is your wheelgun doesn't bite you. I have seen people who have lost flesh and bled from sem-autos do poorly with them. They trust and are not afraid of a wheelgun, accuracy improves naturally.
