I am trying to get more info on this gun.
The models is S&W 380.

In my efforts to research on Google and YouTube, I only get Bodyguard responses when typing in the model S&W 380.

This gun model features:
- No safety of any kind.
- Striker fire.
- Magazine release from bottom.
- Gun will fire with no magazine inserted.

Just trying t get more info on this gun.
Thank you in advance.

Yep, the SW380, part of the Sigma budget line. I believe I still have an original armorer manual for it out in my shelves, as the Sigma line was covered the last half day of my first 3rd gen pistol armorer class.

Check out pages 19-22 in the safety manual, about how it's field stripped. http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson2/upload/other/SW380_Manual.pdf

If I remember right, it had a zinc slide. The armorer instructor said, when asked, that it might have a service life of 2,500-3,000 rounds. Maybe.

The .380, and a similar 9mm version of that budget model, made the rest of the Sigma line look pretty good.

For S&W a great disappointment, mine shot ok but was so obviously cheap i gave it to a friend. The mag is held in by two plastic tabs whic in turn are part of the grips. Much better pistols available today.

Also worth mentioning that S&W dropped the SW380 and its 9mm sister pistol—the SW9M—from production after less than 2 years, reportedly for excessive rates of warranty returns at fairly low rounds counts.

Due to the short production life and high return rate, S&W reportedly does not have many parts left for these pistols; I've heard tell on the S&W forum that people have sent them in for factory service, only to receive a letter declaring that the pistol is irreparable, accompanied by a coupon good for a discount on a new S&W.

This, plus the obnoxious field-stripping procedure, would dissuade me from buying one of these pistols except as an experiment to see how many rounds it takes to kill it. ;)

True. I've heard from some that when they shipped their gun to S&W. S&W (who has one of the best customer service of any company) decided to ship a new full-size Sigma/S&W SD9 to make good on their warranty.

Thank you for the responses everyone.
I do appreciate it.

Will not be purchasing this now.
This is why I like forums.
Lots of experienced and knowledgeable gun owners who offer great advice and suggestions.

Thank you again.
