K kozak6 New member Aug 24, 2015 #1 I picked up a police trade 870 without a barrel recently, and when I pulled off the forend assembly, this little dingus fell out of the gun. Is this a mangled part I need to replace, or just some piece of trash that fell into the gun? Thanks.

G g.willikers New member Aug 24, 2015 #2 It doesn't look like a gun part, but mushed up like that, it's hard to tell. Best bet is to straighten it out and see if it looks like any part in the schematic. http://www.brownells.com/schematics/Remington-/870-Express-sid2.aspx

V Virginian New member Aug 24, 2015 #4 I can attest that there has never been anything remotely like that in any of my seven 870s.

K kozak6 New member Aug 26, 2015 #6 I untwisted it and I think it's probably just a piece of expanded aluminum screen, like jaguarxk120 said. The gun was also full of what appeared to be beads of silica gel. Thanks guys.
