A guy on facebook wants to trade me his Hi Power for my Remington 700 BDL in 30-06. My rifle is blued with wood stock and jeweled bolt. I attached a picture of the Hi Power.

No Scope in deal.

Good deal???

Mmmmm... the Belgian/Portuguese MKIII in the photo is worth about $575-$675 retail... it's a few years old. Still, a desirable and much loved icon.
A new MKIII has a MSRP of around $1050 and a typical retail price of around $900-$975.

Cheers,
C

Around here the BHP MK 3's seem to be selling $25 to 50.00 higher than in Creeper's area. But that is not unusual regional variation.
So figure out what your BDL's worth to you the decide what you want more.

Agreed. Recent manufacture BHP values can vary quite a bit depending on the local market. Only when you get to "Made in Belgium" and older does value increase and stabilize on a collector market.

Cheers,
C

All FN/Browning Hi Powers are "made in Belgium" and always have been.

Those imported to the USA by Browning Arms have had "Made in Belgium Assembled in Portugal" rollmarks since the eighties. It's the "Assembled in Portugal" nonsense that most collectors do not favor. This is nothing against Portugal, just some unnecessary markings that other FN Hi Powers do not have.

They are identical in every respect to any other FN Hi Power except for the rollmark.

It may be nonsense... never the less, you know as well as I that the "Made in Belgium" rollmark, model for model, commands a premium these days.

What ya' gonna do? ;)

Proud new owner! Considering I had less than $400.00 in the rifle, I think I came out pretty good.

The guy was kind enough to bring it to me loaded  so I got a chance to pop off a couple of rounds when I got home. Shoots Good. I like it!
