Is This A Good Deal?

I went over to http://www.ar15.com to look at the AR-15 limited edition group purchase.

I have never purchased an AR-15 before, so I need your advise on whether or not you think their group purchase is a good deal for my first AR-15?

Thanks for your opinions.

ASA, Armalite/Eagle, Oly & Rock River

We asked for a configuration as close to a M4 flattop as we could along with a special limited edition logo and edition number. The prices from these 4 all are close to the $660 figure mentioned. That price is a delivered price to 48 states

dz,

Thanks for the info...however I still need TFL members' opinions on whether or not this is a good deal on a AR-15 or not?

Based on the $915 retail you show...I believe you are saying this is a good deal.

Am I correct?

Thanks for your opinions.

ReserveCop, it depends where you live and what they actually get. I saw new Bushmasters at a show this last weekend for $650 in North Carolina. These were standard stock, A2 sights with 16" or 20" barrels. Hope this helps.

well, the rifle is a great price but some think the chromelined chamber & bore is a must have feature...

collectable?
hard to say weather an AR limited edition is a collectable gun.

We will not find out which manufacturer will be picked till Saturday night.

Since they are marketing the deal on TFL in the general forum, i kinda doubt they will sell out of 1000 Sunday morning. I think they need 500 to make a go of the run.

All of the above models are 4140 steel barrels

a 16" kit is 432 dollars
http://www.jtsurplus.com/
a stripped lower from Kieslers is $124
so a cheap AR can be home built for ~$560

if you buy from ASA the 16inch M4 kit is $499
the complete built up rifle is $829

Is the limited edition AR15.com AR for $660 an awesome deal?

here is a good price on a Bushmaster:
XM15E2S - A3 Type Shorty Carbine, 16 Inch BBL. Price: $810.00
http://pages.hotbot.com/biz/jcarmory/Bushmaster.html

Kiesler's has the 16 inch Bushmaster M4 with fixed carry handle A2 stock for $599 to FFLs

But thats not a limited edition AR15.com rifle
