Is this a $2000 engraving job?

A lot is also determined by WHO did the engraving. While there are many talented folks, a few have been elevated to the status that allows them to command even more. Angelo Bee is one name that comes to mind

I don't see anything there worth $2000. Looks like a saturday night special tricked out. Total worth $1000. Used $850.

I don't think there is anything Saturday Night Specialish' about a S&W 60....

I remember some time ago Wild Alaska posted some pics of what an engraving should look like. I think I'll dig up that old thread and see what I can get out of it. Truth be told, I'm not interested in the pistol or any engraved firearm for that matter. I'm more interested in what it's worth vs what S&W can unload it for. The engraving looks nice but they don't say who the artist is. I consider it art and for the price they should put a name on it.

My main comment on this....they say "Custom Engraved M60"....and then are trying to sell it to whoever wants it. If they don't have a customer who wanted that specific engraving, then it is not "Custom Engraved".

I think the price is outrageous, but then again I also think S&W is charging outrageous prices for new revolvers these days. I bought my Model 19 for something like $300-325 new. It was 20 years ago, but I haven't noticed the prices of other guns going up like S&W has.

Nice engraving and then they stick some plastic faux ivory stocks on it? :barf:

I'd pay half that and then ask for another couple hundred bucks off to replace the stocks with some worthy of the engraving. Say, $1000 or so.

The engraving could be worth more or less than that depending on how good it is. If you want an engraved gun I would suggest buying factory engraved. Even though it is generally not that great, it will go up in value later.

For $2,600.00 you can have your Barbeque gun. Now, how badly do you want it? Remember if you buy it you will also need a holster and belt to accompany it.

For that price. I wouldn't want that the MADE IN USA blah blah blah stamp on the right side of the gun. It is a pretty gun, but wont see me spending 2600 on it thats for sure.

The differential finish is gorgeous! I wonder how they do that - etching cream, or micropolishing, or mask off the engraving and bead blast? All that being said, I wouldn't pay that for it.

If you're gonna engrave....then really engrave!

and it is considered very poor taste and a violation of the rules of the BBQ to use anything other that real ivory...
