Is this 1911 recoil spring correct?

Noticed my firing pin spring was splitting while cleaning my Kimber Pro-Carry the other day. Decided to replace it along with hammer and recoil springs.

Ordered Wolff replacements from Brownell's because they didn't charge a $10 small order fee like Kimber!!

My problem is with the recoil spring. I specified the 22 lb type D (same lbs. as my original factory spring). BIG difference in overall length! Original Kimber = 3.5 in. New Wolff = 5.5 in.

Packaging numbers agree with advertisement in the catalog. Is this supposed to fit (haven't tried yet) and can I attribute length difference to metallurgy/design? Or did I get a mispackaged Gov't model spring?

I'm calling Brownell's tomorrow for clarification. Just thought I'd hit up the knowledgable few for a quick answer.

Thanks in advance.

The 16 1/2 # Wolff spring I ordered was quite a bit longer than my stock spring but functions w/o any problems.I think this may be normal.
