Is There Anywhere Easier ?

No particular hook that I'm trying to hang my hat on here, but is there anywhere is the western world where an individual can walk in off the street and legally buy the firearm of their choice without producing any licence, permit or ID other than to prove age perhaps.

Nope. This is as good as it gets.

Hmm.

Does Yemen count as Western? National Geographic magazine this month reports a 'shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missile' for $700 US dollars in a Yemeni market. Same market had grenades for less than four dollars US each.

Well...it's not even that easy here. You have to furnish ID, fill out Federal paperwork, background check done, then, IF you're not put on delay, you can go. Unless you live in a state that has waiting periods. In some states you must get a permit just to be able to purchase.
But still can't think of anywhere that I'd rather live, other than in the past.

In the USA the only place you can "an individual can walk in off the street and legally buy the firearm of their choice without producing any licence, permit or ID other than to prove age perhaps" Was in my youth. I bought a shotgun through the catalog, rifle right off the shelf, "shame I wasn't into handguns back then"

at the moment or until declared illegal by those in power any gun show in the state of colorado. not from a licsenced ffl dealer but a private sale (and no they are not unlicsenced!! merely a citizen exercising his/her STATE constitutional right!!!) unless you meant a gun store then NO

I belive that if the firearm was made BEFORE 1898, no paperwork is required. I've seen old Mosin-Nagants for sale like this in SGN.

IIRC, muzzleloaders and black powder firearms are also exempt from Fed. regulation. Can somebody please verify/clarify this.

Thanks for the responses.

For the record, when I last vacationed in Austria for a skiing holiday about 5 years ago, I was told that if I drove south to the border with what used to be Yugoslavia used AK-47's were changing hands for as little as $5, ammo was pocket change, an RPG wasn't priced but could have cost as much as $10. Maybe we're just being overcharged here !
