Is there anything I can do to M&P9

I just bought a S&W M&P9 full size. Is there anything I can do to it to make it shoot or operate better.. polish? Springs?

Hey thats not the answer I was looking for...It came from the factory shooting and operating great. But I know that gun guys do "stuff" to their guns to make em operated even better.

I think it's pretty good, as-is, but you can do a trigger job or have SW do it and there's also a different sear SW can install or sell you. The trigger job is available on the MP Pistol forum someone sent you the link to already. Looks pretty easy.

I got lucky in that S&W did a trigger job for me gratis while they had it back in their hands for an FTE issue. I'd asked them in my letter to ping me for credit card info for their trigger job. They never called but did it for free, or as compensation for the FTE issue. It did lighten the trigger. That said, firing my buddy's exact same 9C side by side the trigger difference wasn't that noticeable. Great shooting little gun.

I'm sorry..just because I had a really bad experience with S&W doesn't mean I should take it out on you..you just got a new gun and your pumped up and I have to be a jerk. I 'm really sorry. Enjoy your new gun..even if you don't improve it..be glad you have it and be safe.
 
It's not really a design that lends itself to modification. The best you can hope for is that it functions. If you want to modify and tweak look at a 1911 type pistol. M&P9 is not one of S&W's better designs. It is affordable for a lot of people and allows S&W to try to compete with the Gaston Glock. (good luck on that S&W)

I would not touch it until you have shot about 500 rounds through it.
Keep it well oiled during this process and clean it every 100 rounds.
Keep the slide rails clean.

I shot my Plastic M&P enough to see that there were no flaws that would call for a return to S&W on guarantee and then sent it to Mr Burwell. A trigger job and fibre optic sights got it to where I wanted it.
There is not the cottage industry of M&P stuff that you see for 1911 and Glock, but there is nothing else I would do to mine anyhow.
