man what a cool round,, seems that some other makers besides casull could make guns for it-with the high cap limit in place a mag of 10 of these bad boys would be cool,, what is the future, will it be accpeted into more mainstream guns like the 454 was? if so how long will it take?

Too much for me.

Tog,

Have you ever fired a 900 ftlb round out of a 1911? I have fired enough of them to know that it's not something I want to do on a regular basis. My rounds were 185 gr at 1485 fps. This out of a stock 1911 except for the fully supported Clark bbl and a Wolff 26 lb spring ( full length guide rod ). I had trouble keeping the front sight on until we skeletonized it to reduce mass. It destroyed the adjustable rear sight. They use a stronger spring set (32 lb ??); but, I still don't think I would like to shoot it.

It seems to be a round without a purpose. I would question whether modern bullets, other than FMJ, would simply explode on impact at the high end of the velocity envelope.

It doesn't seem to be a hunting round and I can't visualize it as a defensive round. I'll stick to my .454 and .45.

well not having trouble with full house 44 loads out of redhawk, and not being a 1911 fan (grip too small for hand) wouldn't be that much of a problem, otoh, i can see how it would be a harsh round for some, and i recognize that not a lot of maufacturers would make a gun for it, but 900lbs as a defensive weapon with the proper bullet would make for a devastating round for hunting and personal defense maybe?
what you think, i was thinking more along the lines of a souped up cz97b, or glock21 frame that could handle this round instead of a 1911--- what existing platforms out there besides the 1911 could handle it?

so what would it take to for it to get going?,, how has the 357sig round gotten a foot into the door of the market after a slow start-- the 38casull is basically the same idea just in a bigger package-it should be a hit if anyone would offer guns and ammo for it
