Is there a difference in felt recoil between a full size and compact H&K USP 9mm?

magnumforce,

The full size USP has that patent double spring buffer system, and the USP 9mm I fired didn't kick much at all.

I own a USP 9mm Compact, and it only has the buffer bushing instead of that patent double spring buffer system on the full size. It kicks noticably more than the full size.

If you need a concealment weapon...get the compact. If this is a range gun and for home defense...get the full size by all means. I've got the compact and I'm looking for the full size. HK really is a great gun.

I have HK USP 9 compact - recoil is very moderate even with CorBon 115+P. Icould not compare with full size USP as I did not shoot one, but it is lower than recoil of Beretta 92 and it is more accurate.

Cawdor,

I'm not a big guy, so my 9mm USP flips up slightly. When I was shooting the USP 9mm full size, it didn't seem to kick at all. I could re-aim a whole lot faster than my compact 9mm. It's hard to put into percentages, but the recoil is noticable.

Like I said above, if you aren't going to conceal the gun...buy the full size. That double spring buffer design is a dream come true.

I have to say that I have a bit of trouble with accuracy due to the compact design of the USP Compact...the trigger feels a little funny. I need more practice or I'll just have the trigger mechanism polished (maybe I'll have the trigger pull poundage reduced). In any case, I shoot the full size a lot more accurate than my USP compact.

Good luck on your HK purchases (there was a USP scarcity at the houston gun show this weekend).
